The Sandgarden is our $15,000 home and $5,000 Food Forest. It is designed and inhabited as a celebration of waste. For example, our greywater is transformed into clean water, food, wind screen, evaporative cooling, building materials , wildlife habitat, and beauty. Otherwise wasted solar energy is transformed into winter heat, summer cooling, hot water, and electrical energy. Most building was done with home grown, waste, or recycled materials. A friend owns the land. The low cost of our home, utilities, and supplies, allows us to indulge in a lifestyle that seeks harmony with the earth and our community. This would be impossible if we worked to pay for a 30 year mortgage.
